Vacancies on our Governing Body

Broadfield East Infant School and Nursery and Broadfield East Junior School are going through a consultation process in order to amalgamate the two schools.  To help with this process we are looking for additional governors to join the governing body of Broadfield East Infant School and Nursery.  In particular, we require people with some, or all, of the following skills:

·         Ability to analyse financial information

·         Experience of financial planning/management (eg as part of your job)

·         Experience of procurement/purchasing

·         Ability to analyse and review complex issues objectively

·         Problem solving skills and the ability to question and challenge

·         Interest in the local community and education

Anyone who is over 18 can be a school governor unless they are disqualified (details on request) and you don’t need to be a parent with a child at the school. You do, however, need to have the relevant skills and experiences to contribute to the work of the governing body in order to fulfil its statutory responsibilities which are to:

  • Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction

  • Hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils; and the performance management of staff; and

  • Oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
